Membership Selection and Byelaws

1. Preamble

The Nigeria Institute of Digital Marketing (NIDM) is a professional body established to promote excellence, ethics, and global recognition in the field of digital marketing. These Membership Selection Guidelines and Byelaws provide the framework for admitting, upgrading, regulating, and disciplining members of the Institute, ensuring fairness, transparency, and merit-based advancement.


2. Membership Objectives

The objectives of the NIDM membership framework are to:

  • Recognize competence, professionalism, and contribution to the field of digital marketing.

  • Encourage academic and professional development through training and continuous education.

  • Establish a structured progression path for members to attain higher professional grades.

  • Uphold the reputation and integrity of the Institute.


3. Categories of Membership

Membership of the Nigeria Institute of Digital Marketing shall be open to qualified individuals who meet the Institute’s academic, professional, or experiential requirements. The membership grades include:

a. Student Member

  • For individuals currently pursuing studies in marketing, digital marketing, business, or related fields.

  • Must show interest in developing a career in digital marketing.

b. Associate Member (ANIDM)

  • For professionals with a Diploma or recognized certificate in Digital Marketing or related discipline.

  • Must have at least 1–2 years of relevant practical experience.

  • Entitled to use the post-nominal ANIDM after their name.

c. Full Member (MNIDM)

  • For practitioners holding a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or related field.

  • Must have a minimum of 3–5 years of verifiable experience in digital marketing, communications, or related areas.

  • Entitled to use the post-nominal MNIDM.

d. Fellow Member (FNIDM)

  • For professionals with over 7–10 years of senior-level experience in marketing, digital strategy, or brand leadership.

  • Must have demonstrated outstanding contribution to the growth of the profession.

  • Entitled to use the post-nominal FNIDM.

e. Doctoral Fellow / Distinguished Fellow

  • For individuals who have made significant academic, research, or industry contributions to digital marketing or related fields.

  • May be conferred honorary or merit-based fellowship by the Governing Council.


4. Corporate Membership

Corporate organizations may be admitted as members of the Institute if they:

  • Are engaged in digital marketing, media, advertising, communications, or allied services.

  • Uphold ethical standards consistent with the Institute’s Code of Conduct.

  • Demonstrate commitment to capacity building and continuous professional development.

Corporate members shall have the right to nominate representatives to participate in NIDM programs and enjoy institutional privileges.


5. Membership Selection Procedure

The process of admission into the Institute shall include the following steps:

  1. Application Submission:
    The applicant shall complete the official membership form (online or physical), providing academic and professional credentials.

  2. Screening and Evaluation:
    The Membership Committee shall assess applications based on qualifications, experience, and ethical standing.

  3. Approval by Council:
    Recommendations from the Membership Committee shall be submitted to the Governing Council for final approval.

  4. Payment of Prescribed Fees:
    Applicants must pay all applicable membership, registration, and induction fees.

  5. Induction Ceremony:
    Successful candidates shall be formally inducted and issued a membership certificate and identity card.


6. Membership Privileges

Members in good standing shall be entitled to:

  • Use the appropriate membership designatory letters.

  • Vote and participate in meetings of the Institute.

  • Access NIDM learning resources, research materials, and publications.

  • Benefit from professional networking, global partnerships, and training opportunities.

  • Attend CPD programs and annual conferences organized by the Institute.


7. Membership Obligations

All members are required to:

  • Abide by the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards of the Institute.

  • Pay annual subscriptions and renewal fees as determined by the Council.

  • Participate in CPD and professional development programs.

  • Promote the image, values, and objectives of the Institute.


8. Membership Upgrade

  • A member may apply for an upgrade upon meeting the higher membership requirements.

  • All applications for upgrading shall be verified by the Membership Committee.

  • Upgraded members will receive a new certificate and may use the new post-nominal designation.


9. Suspension and Termination of Membership

Membership may be suspended or terminated if a member:

  • Violates the Code of Conduct or engages in unethical practices.

  • Fails to pay prescribed fees or subscriptions after due notice.

  • Acts in a manner prejudicial to the interest or reputation of the Institute.

Disciplinary actions shall be decided by the Governing Council following due process.


10. Reinstatement of Membership

A member whose membership has been suspended or terminated may apply for reinstatement, subject to:

  • Written apology and evidence of reformation.

  • Payment of all outstanding dues and penalties.

  • Council approval upon recommendation from the Membership Committee.


11. Byelaw on the Governing Council’s Powers

  • The Governing Council shall have full authority to interpret, amend, or modify these byelaws when necessary.

  • The Council shall also oversee membership regulations, disciplinary actions, and admission standards.

  • The Registrar shall maintain the official register of members and ensure compliance with all rules.


12. Amendment of Byelaws

These byelaws may be amended by a two-thirds majority vote of the Governing Council, provided that prior notice of such amendment is given to members at least 14 days before the meeting.


13. Enforcement

All members are expected to comply strictly with these byelaws. Failure to do so may result in disciplinary sanctions, suspension, or expulsion as determined by the Institute’s leadership.
